Scribe vs Tango (2026): Pricing, Exports and Which to Pick
Founder & Content Creator at Vibrantsnap · 7 min read
The short answer: pick Scribe for written SOPs that have to leave the tool as PDF, Word or Markdown, especially for a team of 5 or more. Pick Tango for a smaller team, or when you want to guide people on screen rather than send them a document. If you also need a product demo or tutorial video from the same recording, a third option makes both: a video with an AI voiceover and a written guide.
Every price and plan below comes from scribe.com/pricing, tango.ai/pricing and each vendor's help center, checked on November 1, 2026.

How Scribe and Tango capture a workflow
Both tools work the same way at the start: you install a browser extension for Chrome or Edge, click through the process once, and the tool turns each click into a step with a screenshot and a written instruction. You edit the draft, then share it.
The difference shows up outside the browser. On both, capturing a desktop application needs the desktop app, and on both the desktop app is a paid feature: Scribe's on Pro and Enterprise, Tango's on Pro and Enterprise, for Mac and Windows 10 and 11. If the processes you document live in a desktop tool, the free plans will not cover them.
Guides, walkthroughs and exports
Scribe is built around the document. Pro adds unlimited guide creation, custom branding, customizable screenshots and annotations, Pages, voice transcription, the import of existing process documents and the Confluence integration, and it exports to PDF, HTML, Markdown and Microsoft Word. On Basic, a guide stays in Scribe: you share it by link, embed it or share it as a video.
Tango puts more weight on guiding people while they work. Its pricing card lists "Pins, Guide Me, and Automations" under Enterprise, but its help center says Guide Me, which walks someone through a workflow on screen, works in the browser on every plan, with 3 trials for guests. Pro adds unlimited workflows, branded workflows and exports, blur of sensitive data while capturing, screenshot annotation and redaction, comments, viewership and completion insights, and on-screen guidance for anyone in the workspace. Pins, automations and translation into 15 languages are Enterprise. On Free, there is no download: you paste, embed or share a workflow by URL, and PDF download and HTML and Markdown exports start on Pro.
Limits: Scribe's free plan keeps only 10 Scribes shared at a time. Tango's free plan stops at 5 shared workflows; past that, you can still capture drafts but not publish them.
Video in Scribe and Tango
Neither tool is a video editor, but both make something you can watch.
- Scribe Movies, on every Scribe plan, add motion, voice and visual cues to a guide. Scribe's help center describes them as watched through a share link or an embed, and does not mention downloading a video file. Scribe Pro and Enterprise can also import video recordings in MP4, WebM, MOV and MKV, with 20 imports per team on Pro, for the life of the team.
- Tango video embeds, on Pro and Enterprise, turn a workflow into a video built from its steps, with optional AI narration in one of two AI voices. Tango's help center describes an embed you paste into another tool, and does not mention downloading a video file.
Limits: on both, the video is built from the guide's steps and screenshots, and the help centers describe it as watched by link or embed rather than downloaded.
Scribe vs Tango pricing
Scribe prices Pro per seat, with a 5-seat minimum on Pro Team. Tango prices Pro per user, with a lower rate that applies automatically once the workspace has 3 or more members, and no minimum. Derived from the list prices, before tax:
| Team | Scribe, billed yearly | Tango, billed yearly | Scribe, billed monthly | Tango, billed monthly |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 person | $25/mo (Pro Personal) | $22/mo | $35/mo | $30/mo |
| 3 people | $65/mo (Pro Team, 5-seat minimum) | 3 × $15 = $45/mo | $85/mo | 3 × $20 = $60/mo |
| 5 people | 5 × $13 = $65/mo | 5 × $15 = $75/mo | 5 × $17 = $85/mo | 5 × $20 = $100/mo |
| 10 people | 10 × $13 = $130/mo | 10 × $15 = $150/mo | 10 × $17 = $170/mo | 10 × $20 = $200/mo |
Tango is cheaper up to 4 people; from 5, Scribe Pro Team costs less per seat. On both, every member of the workspace moves to the paid plan: Scribe does not let you mix paid and free seats, and Tango does not allow Free users in a Pro workspace. Tango Enterprise adds a platform fee based on the number of users. The full Scribe breakdown, with the costs the plan cards don't show, is in our Scribe pricing guide.
Which should you pick?
- Internal SOPs and compliance documents: Scribe. Word and PDF export from Pro Personal, unlimited version history and automatic redaction of PII and PHI on Enterprise, and a lower per-seat price from 5 people.
- A small team documenting browser tools: Tango. It costs less for 1 to 4 people, has no team minimum, and its free plan covers 5 shared workflows for up to 10 users.
- Guiding employees on screen while they work: Tango, with Guide Me in the browser and Pins on Enterprise.
- Customer onboarding and support content that people watch: look beyond both. A guide built from clicks tells someone what to press; a short tutorial video in a clear voice shows them why.

A third option when you also need a video
Vibrantsnap starts where Scribe and Tango don't: a recording in which you talk through the workflow. You record a tab, a window or the whole screen with the Chrome extension, or import a video you already have. The AI rewrites your narration into a clean script, reads it in a studio voice in one of 10 languages, retimes the video and adds zooms and captions, so the result is a tutorial or a product demo your customers can follow. From the same narration, it writes a step-by-step guide with a screenshot for each step, which you copy as HTML and Markdown into Google Docs, Notion or Confluence, or download as a PDF, on every plan, the Free plan included, with no AI credits. The AI voiceover and the guide take recordings up to 25 minutes.
| Input | Written guide | Video | Paid plan | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vibrantsnap | A narrated recording, or an imported video | Copy or PDF on every plan, Free included | AI voiceover video, MP4 export from Pro | Pro, $40/mo billed yearly, with unlimited 4K exports |
Recording, editing and previewing the video are free, with 3 AI credits a month (1 AI credit = 1 AI voiceover); exporting the video needs a paid plan. Every plan is on our pricing page.
How we compared them
We read scribe.com/pricing and tango.ai/pricing on November 1, 2026, along with each vendor's help-center articles on billing, seats, free-plan limits, desktop capture, exports, video and on-screen guidance. Scribe and Tango are described from those pages, not from a hands-on test. Where a pricing page and a help center disagree, as on which Tango plan includes Guide Me, we say so. Team totals are our own arithmetic from the list prices. Both vendors change their plans, so check the pricing pages before you buy.
